Chitra Ramakrishna



On April 21,2013 Chitra Ramakrishna took charge as the Managing Director and CEO of the National Stock Exchange, becoming the 1st Indian woman to head the National Stock Exchange[NSE] and the second woman to head a top bourse in India. Chitra, a Chartered Accountant, has been with NSE since its inception in 1991. She was a part of 5-member team selected by the government of India and tasked with the creation of a modern screen based pan-Indian stock exchange. She was also the part of the team formed to draft the legislative framework for SEBI. She took charge at a time when NSE was  facing a tough competition from other bourses.
